The Science of Paints

CAP Arreghini’s innovative vision is rooted in continuous research aimed at improving its products, with the goal of delivering not only maximum aesthetic impact but above all, outstanding performance that benefits both people and the environment. For years, the company has implemented rigorous procedures to optimize environmental performance, committing to the progressive reduction of harmful substances both during production and application.

It has also developed high-performance insulation systems that contribute to reducing energy consumption in buildings. Another area of focus is the creation of long-lasting products that extend the time between maintenance cycles. In this context, CAP Arreghini integrates advanced technologies into its solutions, successfully combining aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.

Nanotechnologies for Living Comfort

The growing demand for healthier and more efficient environments has led CAP Arreghini on a path of advanced research, focused on integrating nanotechnologies into its range of paints. This effort has resulted in CAPNANOTECH, an innovative line of interior and exterior products that combine flawless visual appeal with exceptional functionality. These solutions stand out for their thermal insulating properties, which help improve energy efficiency in buildings, and photocatalytic properties, which purify the air by breaking down pollutants. With these features, CAPNANOTECH represents a cutting-edge technological evolution, perfectly aligned with the needs of contemporary architecture, increasingly driven by sustainability and environmental responsibility.

1. Thermal Insulating Microspheres

CAP Arreghini’s thermal insulating paints, suitable for both exterior and interior use, reduce heat loss while providing insulation by limiting the transmission of heat and cold. This results in reduced condensation and, consequently, less mold formation. The reduction in thermal dispersion is achieved through hollow microspheres in the paint formulation, which deliver exceptional performance by improving heat distribution on treated walls. This leads to greater indoor health and comfort.

Key products include Captherm Active, an exterior water-based paint where the microspheres enhance surface heat distribution and optimize thermal exchange, with lab tests indicating a difference of up to 5°C; and Gradiente Active, an interior water-based paint in which the microspheres absorb and evenly redistribute heat across the wall, ensuring reduced heat loss and enhanced resistance to bacterial growth.

2. Dynamic Catalysts

Photocatalytic paints work through the principle of photocatalysis, a chemical process in which nanoparticles, activated by light (both natural and artificial), trigger oxidation and decomposition of organic pollutants. This mechanism creates a protective barrier that reduces dirt adhesion and inhibits the proliferation of mold, bacteria, and unpleasant odors on surfaces. By eliminating airborne pollutants, these paints help improve air quality, offering self-cleaning benefits and extended durability.

Key products include Capclean Active, an exterior water-based paint that prevents façade deterioration through the light-activated titanium dioxide particles, aiding in the removal of atmospheric pollutants; and Bioclean Active,  an eco-friendly interior paint designed to eliminate odors, bacteria, and mold on surfaces, thereby enhancing indoor well-being.

Well-being Through Anti-Mold Solutions

CAP Arreghini has developed a range of antimicrobial paints that prevent the growth of mold, bacteria, and fungi on interior and exterior surfaces. These advanced formulations create an environment hostile to microbial growth, countering stains, odors, and material degradation. This innovation offers dual benefits: improving indoor air quality and hygiene, while preserving the aesthetic appearance of walls by making them more resistant to moisture and weather.

High-Temperature Protection

CAP Arreghini’s fire-retardant paints are technical solutions designed to meet specific passive fire protection requirements, helping to reduce flame spread and enhance safety. The IGNICAP fire protection systems are suitable for a variety of substrates, steel structures, reinforced and prestressed concrete, plastered brickwork, wood, making them ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial contexts. They also provide an aesthetically pleasing finish in addition to fire protection.

Thermal Barriers

THERMOCAP is the thermal insulation system developed by CAP Arreghini to complement a design process focused on innovation and high-performance solutions. Developed by the CAP Arreghini R&D Laboratory, this external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) reduces the transmittance of opaque vertical surfaces.

Suitable for both new constructions and restoration or extraordinary maintenance projects, THERMOCAP acts as a thermal barrier with benefits throughout the year: insulating against cold in winter and shielding from heat in summer. The insulation provided is both thermal and acoustic. In addition to improving living comfort, THERMOCAP helps preserve the building structure over time and reduces environmental impact.

Certified Quality

Through the excellence of its products, CAP Arreghini places people and the environment at the center of its mission, promoting a philosophy rooted in sustainability. This commitment has been recognized with a series of certifications attesting to the company’s quality and focus on well-being and environmental protection.

Examples include: EPD® (Environmental Product Declaration), which provides accurate information about a product’s environmental performance, UNI EN ISO 9001 and UNI EN ISO 14001 System Certifications, confirming the achievement of high standards in organizational processes and environmental management.
